I know what it’s like to feel stuck - to wish I’d seen the signs sooner, to feel like I should have done more.
I’ve been a teacher for over 30 years, but it wasn’t until my own son was diagnosed with dyslexia after his GCSEs that everything shifted. I knew he had struggled, but I didn’t know just how much until it felt too late. Around the same time, during my specialist training, I discovered I was dyslexic too. And suddenly, it all made sense.
Looking back, I always knew I was meant to be a teacher - but I now know my true purpose is helping children with dyslexia and other learning differences overcome their challenges, believe in themselves, and follow their dreams.
I’ve supported students and families for over 13 years as a dyslexia and dyscalculia specialist, and what I’ve learned is this: it’s not just about teaching strategies. It’s about building confidence, nurturing resilience, and shifting their mindset so they truly believe they can thrive.
That’s exactly what my Rise & Shine programme is all about - not just catching up, but rising up. Because I’ve been on this journey myself, and I know how life-changing it is when a child begins to believe, “I can do this.”
